Poll violators watch out!

If you live in certain parts of the Philippines at least, don't mess around with polling.

...A military commander said violators of election laws in the province would be subjected to spanking with the use of wooden paddles.
Lt. Col. Edgar Catu, head of the Army’s 40th Infantry Battalion, said the provincial peace and order council came up with the proposed punishment at a meeting on Wednesday.

Candidates and local leaders “all agreed that election violators will be spanked,” Catu said.

I had to laugh. This is true by the way, Google sent me the link. I thought about all the alleged violations and interference in national elections including the US Trump triumph (not that I'm taking sides)...but just imagine if all those who'd been mischievous got paddled. And just look at the size of the paddles! :)

Have a good week.

Vaulting Horse

How was your weekend?

I think I may have mentioned that I sometimes sell on ebay and it's where I look for...ahem.. unusual presents for P. On the weekend I spotted this.

An old school vaulting horse, wouldn't that make an excellent present for me.

Well it would be me who was made to bend over it, wouldn't it?

Picture from M:e

But I don't think I could buy it. I mean what could I say when visitors or son asked why we had a school vaulting horse in the house.

Any ideas.

Vintage Spanking Postcards

Here today gone tomorrow - Sorry to anyone who was looking for the Bill Ward pictures posted on Wednesday, I took them off yesterday because Google frightened me into thinking they might contain corrupt files. Google must have got it wrong as we can't find anything but better to be safe than sorry.

Found these delightful vintage postcards to share with you.

1910

Not sure of year of this one. Maybe one of my readers could help out with the translations for these two postcards.

Our friend Elysia has provided us with a rough translation -
"Give the whip at the right time to inspire confidence and seek love".
Thanks Elysia.

1900's

1920 - Looks like this one could be American

1906 - "An Unexpected Meeting with the Board"

Have a good weekend

Here's a tricky one, Google

P was out with with a client last night so just me and son in for dinner. Just as were were finishing our meal he asked if I had read an article regarding Google interviews in the SundayTimes. (He's just graduated and looking for work, so interviews on his mind). I must admit I hadn't, he went on to tell me that the article was about possible questions that job applicants are expected to solve at interviews off the tops of their heads. He said he'd kept the article, went to fetch it and read a little from it. Apparently Google get 3,000 job applications a day and only 50 UK vacancies were being advertised last week and how times have changed.

It's not at all like the old days any more, even if you don't remember them you'd have seen the old ways spoofed in movies, old school tie, Oxford or Cambridge, Harvard wasn't it, etc...

Interviewer: “Didn’t your father used to work here?”

Interviewee: “Yes, he sends his best wishes.”

Interviewer: “Do you still play rugby, by the way?”

Interviewee: “Yes.”

Interviewer: “Jolly good. When can you start?”

Anyway it's definitely not like that now, not at Google anyway. He said have a go at these questions which I did.

1. Every man in a village of 100 married couples has cheated on his wife. Every wife in the village instantly knows when a man other than her husband has cheated, but does not know when her own husband has. The village has a law that does not allow for adultery. Any wife who can prove that her husband is unfaithful must kill him that very day. The women of the village would never disobey this law. One day, the queen of the village visits and announces that at least one husband has been unfaithful. What happens?

2. How many times a day does a clock’s hands overlap?

3. You have eight balls all of the same size. Seven of them weigh the same. One of them weighs slightly more. How can you find the heavier ball by using a balance and only two weighing?

4. A man pushed his car to the hotel and lost his fortune. What happened?

I can hear you say, how did I do, very bad actually, only got one right. There can't be answers to some of these and others require lateral thinking. I read the article later and I'm very glad I'm not having to go through interviews these days especially with questions like these.

Why not have a go at the questions, leave me the answers in comments but no Googling.

The Anal Channel

So P put me this google analyser onto my blog, to find out where visits come from.

I opened it today and it's neat even though I hardly think it will become addictive, but what I did notice on my screen, and it made me laugh, was Google Anal.......so have Google dipped into the water and set up a special channel for us? Sadly not, when I clicked another tab it became Analytics :)

It's a gorgeous day here, sunshine, lovely blue sky, nice end to a good week, I was thinking of suggesting we went out tonight but P's car is in for a service and the garage just called him and said he needs pads and discs on the front which shoves the bill up to about £600 which hasn't made him happy, I think I'll cook in after all.
