Jeux De Dames Cruelles

1930

More from the delightful book - 'Jeux De Dames Cruelles'
Photographs from 1850 - 1960

1930's

This picture is one of only two that show men. Of course these pictures were taken by male photographers and were initially intended only for men.

1850

The texts are in French and German. Maybe one of our friends could help us out and translate this little piece of French and I can post the translation for us all to read.

Our good friend Chross has translated the German text for us. Thank you.

Female sadomasochism and Photography

"Jeaux de dames cruelles" deals with sadomasochism among women as it appears in the already long history of photography. But let's not forget, those pictures were taken by male photographers and were primarily targeted at a male audience. It's not surprising that this topic had been illustrated from the very beginning of photography since it - in a mild form - is part of a passion that - as Georges Bataille discovered - stands at the center of our lives. After Daguerre had made his discovery public, it at first took a century of progress on the field of this totally new art form until photographers could accomplish depictions of real people without problems. The earliest sadomasochistic pictures are extremely rare; and the spanking depicting daguerreoo-model (Remark: difficult to translate and hardly making sense in German, too...) which certainly happened, has yet to be re-discovered. The strict morals explain the rarity of such pictures which - sold only underhand - were hard to market. On the other hand certainly many of these picture have been destroyed, partly due to shame, partly due to negligence.

Hope you have a good weekend.

More Cruel Ladies

Its been a while since I shared some of the photos from the book "Jeux De Dames Cruelles".

For those who haven't seen my other two posts, The book is full of black and white spanking photos and a few accounts from back as far as 1850 so quality isn't always great.

So for your enjoyment here are a few, click the pictures for larger image.

I'll post more photos and some of the text soon.

Culture, History & Discipline

Yesterday I got an email from Peter Jones, he's the solicitor in London who spanks women, I was surprised to see his name in my inbox but when I opened it I realised it was generated by his website and sent to all who'd registered with him, which I did a while back.

The email contained a video clip from Youtube entitled 'Helena Bonham-Carter gets birched', which I though was fair enough if that's her taste, so I clicked it and it's a lovely little extract from what is obviously a decent period production based on the Tudors, Bonham-Carter plays the unfortunate Lady Jane Grey, she does indeed get birched and goodness me I should think it smarted, obviously English discipline originated way before those wickedly corrupt Victorians turned it into an art form.

Poor Lady Jane, she was dealt with rather severely, I was hoping Patrick Stewart might carry out the discipline he's got such a lovely deep authoritative voice.

Lady Jane, sometimes referred to as the Nine Day Queen, ruled England 10 July 1553 - 19 July 1553, she was tried with others for high treason on 13 November 1553 and eventually executed on 12 February 1554 at the age of seventeen.

(Thanks to Lady_Karen_Rebel for pointing out a serious historical error in my previous post, I took the information from Youtube incorrectly. Thanks Karen)

Cruel Ladies

Some text and more pics from the book 'Jeux de Dames Cruelles' see post Spankez-vous francais

The text in the book is in French and German, P has done the best he can to get the meaning, but if anyone reads French feel free to click and have a read. I think there should be some English pages too but they're missing, probably why I got it cheap :)

This page refers in part to Catherine de Medici (1519-1589) who apparently took pleasure whipping the ladies of her court, she made the most beautiful of her ladies and servants strip and took delight in their demeanour, then spanked them on their backsides with her hand, it gave her satisfaction to see them writhing and making movements. There are more pages but no actual text to give stories to the individual pictures.

A few more pics here anyway, click any of them to see them better, sorry about the quality.

Ah a man involved but it looks like he's comforting (or ravishing) the girl while another wields the birch.

Looks like it's taken from a genuine schoolroom of the day with two naughty girls getting punished

Just three girls having fun
