Goodbye Summer

Sadly summer is nearly over for us here in the UK. Children back at school, Granddaughter goes back to nursery next week.  We have been looking after her more during the summer and have had so much fun. P's teaching her to swim in our local swimming pool. She refuses to float but that will come. We've been away for a few days in this country and hope to again next month. I have missed going abroad these last two years so I'll be keeping everything crossed for next year.

Have you all enjoyed your summer?  What have you been up to? Anyone risked travelling overseas, any horror stories? Or joyous ones!

Stay safe.

Have a good week.

Ah the last trip out of the country for us was in Jan JUST before all the covid lockdowns last year. sadly i don't think we'll be travelling anywhere anytime soon. the mandatory quarantine periods make it very difficult to go anywhere. that's almost a whole month in quarantine if i count both countries. and even if it's only in one country, that's still 2 weeks when i come home. Not a luxury i can afford. I mean, i have accumulated lots of vacation days, but not THAT much.

There are plenty of visitors from the UK to Greece. The small island on which I live since mid July has been nearly full and is nearly full for the next month. Most visitors are from Great Britain or the EU, just a few from Israel.

There is no reason not to visit, provided you are vaccinated, be careful when out and about (eg masks on public transport and in shops).

I can't believe Summer is almost over. Most schools are back in session here and you can feel Fall in the air.

I have not vacationed nor plan to anytime soon. I have a friend who is currently on vacation in Paris (visiting from the US) and I'm waiting to hear all about it in regards to how/if travel was different in this time of COVID. Interesting enough they had no travel restrictions going from here to there nor mandatory quarantine period.

Best,
Enzo

We are staying close to home, not going out except for necessities, as numbers are rising here and there's no need to take risks. The US won't let us in, and flying is still dangerous. Even nearby big cities' numbers are on the rise so wewon't be going near them.
Hugs,
Hermione

Hi Ronnie,

I'm looking forward to summer arriving here :) almost spring and we are having awful weather here at the moment. Horrendous damaging winds causing chaos and some flooding.

As for travel, I definitely won't feel comfortable going anywhere overseas for a while. Besides, at the moment returning home means 2 weeks in a quarantine facility.

Hugs
Roz

It's been a quiet, stay-at-home summer for us. But really that's the way I like it. I love fall so I'm looking forward to that. But I know you enjoy a little travel and I hope you get some soon.

Fondles - No, not safe or practical to go overseas right not. Hopefully next year. Thanks.

Long Bean - I've heard that Greece has had quite a few overseas visitors. As much as we like to travel overseas, it's not going to happen for us this year. Thanks.

Enzo - I'd be interested to hear how your friend's views on travel was. Thanks.

Hermione - Sadly I think number are increasing everywhere. Our few days away are in quite areas, not many people around. Thanks.

Roz - Sorry you are having bad weather. Enjoy your spring summer months. Thanks.

PK - I know you like that. Hopefully next year will be a time to travel, well see. Thanks.
Love,
Ronnie
