We were talking with friends over dinner on Friday about the new James Bond film (we'll all be going to see it) and we got into a discussion on who has been the best Bond so far and the best theme tune and should a women be the next Bond.
For our friends it was Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan. Theme tune - Nobody Does It Better, Carly Simon and Goldfinger, Shirley Bassey.
For me, Sean Connery with a very close second being Daniel Craig and the theme, Skyfall, Adele.
P went for Goldeneye, Tina Turner and Pierce
Brosnan.
We all said no to a women as the next Bond.
In your opinion who has been the best Bond so far and best theme tune?......... And should a woman ever be Bond?
Stay safe.
Have a good week.
Love,
Ronnie

Hi Ronnie, gosh, it's a tie for me between Pierce and Daniel. Being an old Duran Duran fan from way back, theme tune A View To A Kill. As for a female Bond, that's a no from me.

Best Bond? Connery, though it was fun seeing Woody Allen in the pseudo-role. The theme? Live and Let Die, no question. A female Bond? Sure, but only after they do a male Lt. Ripley, or maybe even a male Jane Eyre? Actually, someone should just take this trend to its logical conclusion and do a movie about the life of Christ and have a woman play Jesus and a man play the Virgin Mary.
Sean Connery is the best by far in my book. I'm not a fan of Craig in the role.
The fact that a woman playing Bond is even being discussed shows how the role has been feminized since the Connery days.
Sean Connery for sure. NO woman should ever be Bond. I'd like to see Sacha Baron Cohen as a pseudo-Bond.

Hermione
Connery for me, no to a female bond, and A view to a kill for the theme :)
I have to admit I've never seen a Bond movie in my life - and even I say no to a female Bond.
Sean Connery, hands down. Best theme song - Nobody does it better.
I would be OK with a female Bond, but she would have to be really good at the one liners.

I'm so glad the new Bond movie finally is coming out. I rate Daniel Craig as the best Bond, though with Sean Connery a very close second. Skyfall as the best theme song (and also the best Bond movie, though I also have to raise a probably lone hand in support of On Her Majesty's Secret Service). I agree with KD's comments and dismissive tone on the idea of a female Bond.
totally agree with you of Sean Connery, and a close second of Daniel Craig. thought almost all of the songs were great.
bottoms up

PS: forgot. No, I prefer a man as James Bond, although Dr. Who did it reasonably well with a woman, but no where as good as any of the men since Dr. Who re-started.
Red
Connery and then Craig.
I'm going to dissent and say yes that a female bond could work, but ONLY IF she was over the top, such as the lead character spy Lorraine from the Atomic Blond movie.
In case you haven’t seen it:

I have enjoyed the Bond's with Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig and Roger Moore. I disliked Timothy Dalton. As far as a female Bond, nah, and I cannot even imagine one that could pull off the acting as a secret agent.

Roz - Ah a Duran Duran fan, I can see why you chose that theme. Thanks.
Kdpieere - Haven't seen Woody in that role, not a fan of his. Yep, just stick to the original books. Don't change male/female rolls. Thanks.
Glenmore - Another vote for Connery. I quite liked Craig in that role and another vote for and on a women Bond. Thanks,
Hermione - Another for Sean. Not a fan of Sacha. Thanks.
Fondles - I thought I would probably be the only one who thought Sean was the best Bond. Wasn't too keen on that theme. Thanks.
PK - You should watch one which Sean and then one with Craig. Thanks.
Prefectdt - Another for Sean. One of our friends thought that tune was the best. I don't think it would ok with a women Bond.
Dan - Hi. Craig my close second. We shall go and watch it. I'd love to know who the next Bond will be. On Her Magesty's Secret Service, a no from me and yes a or a Bond women. Thanks.
Red - I am surprised at the number of Sean votes. I only watched a couple of Dr. Who's so I can't comment on Jodie being any good. Thanks.
Enzo - No, no I'd hate to see a women in that role that was over the top. Thanks for the link, hadn't seen it.
Baxter - I didn;t like Timothy Dalton either or George Lazenby. Thanks.
Love,
Ronnie
