For the Fallen
They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them
They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam
This is only a part of the poem written by Laurence Binyon. Laurence was too old to enlist in the military forces so volunteered at a British hospital for French soldiers, working briefly
as a hospital orderly. He returned in the summer of 1916 and took care
of soldiers taken in from the Verdun battlefield.
Please join me in remembering all who went to war and never came
home.
Also our service men and women who have been injured and to all those who are currently serving.
Also our service men and women who have been injured and to all those who are currently serving.
WE THANK YOU.

We will remember them.
Prefectdt
We pray for them, we salute them with our right hand on our heart, we listen to the bugle, we only have our tears to offer... Tonight we will look up for all their stars... Some have a special star... Some will embrace all the stars...
We love you, we thank you.

Beautiful poem Ronnie.
I hope it inspires many to take some time from their day to pause and remember the sacfifices of others.
So young and so brave.
Hugs,
Hermione
We remember them, but sadly politicians who send them to war do Not meet their needs when they come home. Too many suicides ( one would be too many), but so many more show we need to do so much more for them when they return .

Thank you Ronnie for posting. We need to remember the sacrifices of men and women who have made and make our lives better every day.
Roz - Thank you.
Prefectdt - Always and forever.
Bridgette - We should all take time to remember and not just for the day.
Glenmore - I hope they did.
Heermione - So many of them.
Red - I totally agree with you there.
SG - No need for thanks. We should always remember them everyday.
Love,
Ronnie
