My canes are going travelling

A couple of my headmaster canes are going to be used but not quite the end use I had in mind for them.

They are going to be shown in a mobile memorabilia exhibition as from next week.

I don't know the name of the exhibition and I didn't ask, but that's what I was told when the gentleman ordering them contacted me and asked if I could pass on his cell phone number to the delivery man so that if he was in some part of his premises where he couldn't hear the door chime when the package arrived, they could call him and tell him they were waiting outside his door.

Now I'm a very obliging person and would do anything to help a customer out but I really can't imagine Royal Mail having such a facility so I told him I doubted it would be possible unless he wanted to pay for a specialised courier service. Then he told me when he needed them for, which was seven days forward, and I assured him it was 95% certain they would arrive within two and, if they didn't I would re-send at my own risk. So we agreed on that and they have gone and I've heard nothing since so I guess all is well.

When I told P, just out of interest, what had happened he said, "You must be losing your eye for business...I would have asked him more about his mobile exhibition and, if I liked what I heard, offered to supply them gratis...as long as they each carried a nice big label Canes kindly supplied by Ronnie etc etc."

I didn't even think of that.

Have a fun weekend.

I wouldn’t have thought of offering the canes free either, Ronnie.
Wonder what kind of exhibition contains schoolmaster canes...

I too would have wanted to know more about the exhibition, but would not have thought of offering them for free. Maybe you could contact him to make sure the canes arrived safely (good customer relations) and then ask where they would be on display.

Hugs,
Hermione

It would have been a nice opportunity to enhance business if a real event. Could even be fun to visit the event. I agree with Hermione that you should contact to see if they arrived, and for more info

You have the address, maybe you could send him a note asking for a photo or better yet telling him if he needs more you would supply them gratis for some advertising credit.
Either way, good on you.

This reminds me of something I had forgotten to tell you, Mistress Ronnie. The last time Sam and I were traveling, one of your canes was in an inconspicuous mailing tube at the bottom of our suitcase. Your travel cane is very quiet in a hotel as long as I am able to be quiet, too. Anyway, when we arrived at our destination, there was a note that the Airport Security (TSA) had opened our bag to examine its contents. Couldn't tell if they had examined the tube, but I always wonder.

Hugs Across the Pond,
Ella

Hi Ronnie, :) Inquiring minds wish to know what type of exhibit the canes are being used for. I like Hermione's idea above.

I don't think that I would have thought of the free thing, in exchange for advertising, either. Sounds like a good idea. Have a great weekend! Many hugs,

❤️Katie xoxo

Methinks your P is a marketing man :>)) ... good customer service often calls for a followup so maybe there's your opportunity to ask how the exhibition went and what it was for.

I had a look at your Etsy site ... hmmm ... lovely, I am sure but I think maybe we'll put those at the end of the 'implements to buy' list :>)

Roz - He's better at marketing than me. Thanks.

Rosie - I'm not sure. I am really curious. I have asked about the cane arriving so if I get a reply I might ask. Thanks.

Hermione - Have made contact. Selling these type of implements you don't really ask questions about their use? Thanks.

Red - Buyer hasn't come back as yet. Thanks.

SG - Now that's a good idea. Thank you.

Ella Oh gosh. I bet they did take a look what was in it. Would have been embarassing if you had been standing there when they were checking. Thanks.

Katie - Have made contact, see if I get a reply thenn I can enquire more. Thanks,

Nora Jean - He is very good at marketing, has given me loads of help. Thanks for checking out the site.

Love,
Ronnie
