Bottoms Up

My weekly review of a least favourite implement, as expressed by readers.

Jan, English Rose writes.....

I am not a fan of wood. Until recently we had a natty oval hairbrush but oops it recently cracked from side to side. What a shame! We have a nasty little wooden spoon, a vicious wooden ruler, neither of these I particularly enjoy but after the brush pah!!

Then a few weeks ago my darling generous husband made a new purchase - A wooden paddle:((( This terrible implement measures 9 by 4 and is a lovely shiny dark wood. It has a pretty blue ribbon through the handle.

Oh my goodness it stings like fury and is without doubt my least favourite thing. It is unfortunately hubby's very favourite thing and puts in an appearance regularly whether for punishment or play. Did I say  I really don't like it , I can't even keep still for the blessed thing, where have all the feathers gone these days?

Thanks English Rose.  Many a bottom (including me) have a dislike for wooden implements, or at least certain wooden implements and I'm happy we don't have one like yours in our toy box.

Don't forget, if any bottoms, male or female who would like to do a review of their LEAST favourite implement and why, please email me. ronniesoul@gmail.com. I'll keep it secret if it's just for me but if it's OK for me to post it please say so. Pictures are always good.

See you next week for another Bottoms Up.

Jan does not seem to very brave about receiving her paddling. Maybe she will get used to it over time.

Bob - Don't you dare:) Cheers Bob.

Michael - I wouldn't be brave if I had that paddle used on my bottom. Thanks Michael.

Thank you Jan and Ronnie. I do not like wooden paddles at all.

I love wood when he uses it over clothes, less so on the bare. But I do like the wooden spoon - probably because he never uses it long enough.

It's lovely! Was the blue ribbon her husband's idea? That paddle looks like it means business.

We have a similar paddle but unfortunately its much thicker and yes it makes a regular appearance and seems to be the go to implement. Even though one knows it will make the paddling last longer she panics when it first starts and tries to get up. The crazy thing is if it for some reason does not come out for a while the craving for it begins....go figure.

thank-you for sharing...that looks quite intimidating to me...I am sure it must pack a mighty sting...

Looks very ouchy to me. It looks bad enough for play but for punishment. I would be angelic if that were in my house.

Joey - I'm with you on that. Cheers Joey.

PK - The only wood I like is the cane:) Thanks PK.

Sarah - You should tell Peter to purchase one of John's paddles (US but worth it) or maybe I should mention it to him:) Thanks Sarah.

Hermione - Jan said the blue ribbon came with the paddle. Thanks Hermione.

Roz - I totally agree. Thanks Roz.

DB - I can understand that. Thanks DB.

Terps - Exactly what I thought. Thanks Terps.

SG - I think I would be too:) Thanks SG.

Good grief Jan - now I know what you are always going on about!

Ronnie, thanks for the post, but if the scary thing were mine I'd bury it at midnight! I have chopping boards that look similar and I just couldn't imagine them used on my butt! Was it your idea she bought it Ronnie?!

The only bit I liked was the blue ribbon.

I enjoy the wood as long as there is a significant warm-up and starts over clothes. Now its better if they don't swing too hard.LOL.. I know I am a wimp. However when its layered after a while it is nice in it's cumulative effects.

Awww but it's such a pretty paddle :)

I have a certain fondness for a certain paddle but that is a whole other story. I don't dislike wooden implements in general but I will admit that they pack a certain sting.

Ami - Not my cup of tea and no it was all her husbands idea:) Thanks Ami.

Minelle - Yes, after a warm up it would be different. Thanks Minelle.

Dawn - There is not wooden implement I've found that I like. Thanks Dawn.

Interesting, but I understand very well that wood gives more pain, whereas leather gives more sting.
I imagine I should send P an email letting him know that after this being the year of the cane, next should be the year of the wood...
