"Ode of Remembrance"

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

will remember them.

Lest we forget.

Thank you for posting this Ronnie. Past and present, I think its so important we take time to remember and give thanks to those who put themselves in harm's way for the rest of us.

My dad, a WWII vet is the one I think the most about today. Thanks for the poem.

I would have not thought to post anything about Veterans on a spanking blog, but I am pleased that you did. My neighbor and I will toast ourselves and all those we once knew today.

Elle - my pleasure. We owe so much to them. Don't have enough words to express. I hope to go to a service at the Staffordshire National Memorial Arboretum on Sunday.

PK - My Grandfather and Dad came through but my aunts fiancee didn't come back.

OBB - Thank you so much. I think the UK should have this day as a holiday like parts Canada and America. I'm not sure why we don't

Hermione - It does the same for me.

Mouse - I was welling up whilst posting it.

Thanks all.

Love,
Ronnie

Prefectdt - Forever and always.

Michael - It's good to see some younger ones wearing the poppy.

Thanks both.
