My husband's a Lurker

It made me laugh on Friday afternoon P was checking out some company and using online bulletin boards amongst other things. He'd been following a particular thread for a while but not engaged actively, then on Friday he introduced himself and added some points and questions pointing out that he'd been a lurker for a while. One of the other posters asked him what a lurker was and said it sounded a bit sinister. P was quick to explain that it was just an expression to describe one who's been watching but not participating, I think he was a bit embarrassed poor soul, he's only picked up the expression from me. Then he asked me if the expression was peculiar to the blogging world or spanking blogs in particular, I told him I didn't think so. P said 'Hmm probably dome fuddy duddy accountant type because that's the sort of board he was on, but for good measure he said in future when he introduces himself it will be as a 'hitherto silent observer.'

Last Thursday was my second LOL day and I had more comments than last year which was fantastic. I enjoy blogging and sharing, it's an important part of my life so I want to thank all readers old and new for making the day special for me and to Bonnie a huge thanks but for you I wouldn't be here blogging and thanks to Hermione for all her hard work.

That's what the man gets for listening to his wife! So I was just wondering does P lurk on your site? Any other? I think Nick lurks on all of us most of the time.

PK

I'm sure it's a commonly used word. The accountant-type simply isn't up on the jargon.

I agree with PK; husbands probably lurk more than they let on.

Hermione

All day long, I tromped around the house saying "lurk, lurk, lurk" in a deep and ominous voice. It was great fun.

Was that too much information?

Hugs,

These suit wearing types are so easily impressed by acronyms. P should invent one, for example PUL (Previously Unheard Lurker), they would love something like that.

It has been a term used on the net for many years now.

Sara - He wont use it again :)

Daisychain - It's a good job it isn't a word just connected to us:)

PK - I doubt he is a lurker on our sites but you never know he could be commenting as Anon :)

Hestia - LOL, I don't think he'll be using the word again on his share boards.

Hermione - I'll have to ask him if he does.

Barley.Pink - No, I was saying smilar myself LOL

Prefectdt - Now hat's a good one, will have to pass it onto P

His Mija - Hello and welcome. He obviously thought by using his phone you wouldn't know :)

Mick - Thanks. I just Googled it. Apparently research indicates that "lurkers make up over 90% of online groups", quite high.

Thanks all.

Love,
Ronnie
