The left-handed dentist

I couldn't help laugh, in yesterday's Sunday Times (sorry can't link the article as you have to pay now) a small piece by Rod Liddle (he's one of their more irreverent columnists and often takes pot shots at the establishment and general silliness) told of a dentist who's in trouble for smacking women patients' bottoms, touching their breasts and suggesting they might be able to settle their bills in certain ways.

The dentist has appeared in court, his case is ongoing. His excuse - you'll love this - was that he's left handed and his surgery is built for right handed dentists, it makes it awkward for him to negotiate some of the equipment and his hand can end up where it shouldn't be. Ha! Well if he gets off the hook with that one it can only be by a left handed judge who's had similar problems. The author of the story notes that our most prominent public left hander at the present time in the UK is our prime minister David Cameron, and he issues a tongue in cheek warning to his female cabinet colleague, Theresa May the Home Secretary, to watch her back...and her front for that matter.

I've only recently signed up to a new dentist, a lady as it happens, and she seems ok. But the thought of booking a check-up and polish, oh and I'll have a bottom smacking while you're at it please, made me smile.

Sorry haven't been around commenting much this weekend, having problems again with blogger.

Well that brings new meaning to the question "Is it safe?". I wonder how many other people reading these comments are old enough to remember the connection between that question and dentists.

That's a ridiculous excuse. A dentist might brush a breast accidentally, but a bum?

Yeah, not so sure pleading left handedness is going to work. But extra points should be given for a creative defense!

Red - Your welcome :)

Prefectdt - I think I'm probably same age or older than you pref but I don't remember that. Tell us more please.

Hermione - That's what made me laugh, how could he accidently touch their bottoms :)

Barely.pink - I wonder if it was his or his lawyers idea :)

Thanks all, appreciate you stopping by.

It is a famous dentist scene from the film Marathon man. It was even parodied in Gremlins 2.

Ronnie: Well, give the guy credit for an off the wall excuse

I wonder which lawyer dreamed that idea up.

I've got a great dentist story. We were at a restaurant and the server comes with a dish and it was my dentist. his wife ran a restaurant and they were short on help. true story.

Pref - I did see Marathon Man but don't remember that. Will take a look. Cheers.

FD - Funny story, was your dentist embarrassed ? Bet you didn't have a desert after your meal :)

Thanks both.

Reminds me of playground talk by bigmouthed bullies...a favourite threat was..."If you don't shut up, I'm gonna punch your teeth so far down your throat, you'll have to stick your toothbrush up your bum to clean them...."
LOL, maybe this dentist had some of those patients who didn't shut up? Hahaha! xxxxxxx
